FRP Membrane Housing for High-Flow RO Systems and Multi-Housing Racks
Product Description
The FRP membrane housing is designed for high-flow reverse osmosis (RO) water treatment systems, desalination plants, industrial pure water systems and wastewater reuse projects. It is made of fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP), which provides high pressure resistance, corrosion resistance and a long service life. The housing can be supplied as a single unit or as a multi-housing rack / skid with several membrane housings mounted on one frame.
The FRP membrane housing uses a smooth inner surface and reliable sealing structure to hold RO membrane elements under high pressure. It is suitable for large-flow RO systems where stable operation, low leakage and easy maintenance are required. The housing can be customized in size, pressure rating, end connection, sealing material, color and rack configuration.
A typical RO filtration process can be arranged as:
Pre-Treatment → High-Pressure Pump → FRP Membrane Housing(s) → Permeate / Concentrate
For large capacity systems, several FRP membrane housings can be installed on one rack or skid, with common manifolds, inlet and outlet connections, and optional instrumentation.
Where Is This Membrane Housing Used?
FRP membrane housings are commonly used in seawater desalination, brackish water treatment, industrial pure water, boiler feed water, electronics ultrapure water, pharmaceutical water, food and beverage processing, wastewater reuse and large-flow RO systems.
In seawater desalination and high-salinity applications, FRP housings are often selected for their corrosion resistance and high pressure rating. They can handle high operating pressure while protecting the RO membrane elements.
In industrial water treatment plants, the housings can be installed as single units or arranged in multi-housing racks. This makes them suitable for both small RO systems and large-capacity RO trains.
For pharmaceutical, electronics and food and beverage factories, FRP membrane housings are used in the RO system rather than for direct product filtration. The correct pressure rating, membrane element size and sealing material should be selected according to the water quality and system design.
Main Features
The FRP construction provides excellent corrosion resistance, high pressure resistance and a smooth inner surface. This helps reduce pressure loss and protects the RO membrane elements during operation.
The housing can be designed for 4040, 8040, 8080 and other membrane element sizes. Pressure ratings such as 300 psi, 450 psi, 600 psi and 1000 psi can be customized according to the application.
Different end connections, sealing materials and installation methods are available. Single housings are suitable for small or flexible systems, while multi-housing racks / skids are suitable for high-flow RO systems with several membrane housings on one frame.

FAQ
Q1: What is an FRP membrane housing used for?
It is mainly used to hold RO membrane elements in reverse osmosis water treatment systems. It provides a pressure-resistant and corrosion-resistant enclosure for high-flow RO, desalination and industrial water treatment applications.
Q2: What is the difference between a single housing and a multi-housing rack?
A single housing is one independent FRP membrane housing. A multi-housing rack or skid has several housings mounted on one frame, usually with common manifolds and connections. Multi-housing racks are suitable for large-flow RO systems.
Q3: Can the membrane housing be customized?
Yes. Size, pressure rating, membrane element size, end connection, sealing material, color, rack design and manifold configuration can be customized according to the project.
Q4: What membrane element sizes are available?
Common sizes include 4040, 8040 and 8080. Other sizes can be customized according to the RO system design.
Q5: What pressure ratings are available?
Typical pressure ratings include 300 psi, 450 psi, 600 psi and 1000 psi. The correct rating should be selected according to the feed water salinity and system operating pressure.
Q6: Can it be used for seawater desalination?
Yes. High-pressure FRP membrane housings are commonly used in seawater desalination systems. The pressure rating and material should be confirmed according to the project.
Q7: How are the housings installed?
They can be installed horizontally or vertically. For large systems, several housings are usually mounted on a rack or skid with common piping and manifolds.
Q8: What end connections are available?
End port, side port, flange, Victaulic and other connections can be supplied according to the system requirement.
Q9: What information is needed for quotation?
Please provide membrane element size, quantity, pressure rating, end connection, sealing material, installation method, water quality, flow rate and whether a rack or skid is required.
Q10: Is FRP better than stainless steel for membrane housings?
FRP is lightweight, corrosion-resistant and cost-effective for many RO applications. Stainless steel may be preferred for certain high-pressure or special chemical conditions. The correct material should be selected according to the application.
Q11: Can you supply a complete multi-housing skid?
Yes. We can supply single housings or complete multi-housing racks / skids with manifolds, connections and optional instrumentation.
Q12: How do I maintain an FRP membrane housing?
Regularly check for leakage, seal condition, pressure and connection tightness. Replace seals when necessary and follow the RO system maintenance schedule.
